Vice Principal, LST, Grade 4/5 Teacher

Phone: 403-223-2487

Hi there!

My name is Mandy Simmons and I am teaching Grade 5 L.A., Social Studies, Health and Science. I am also taking on the Learning Support Teacher responsibilities as well as Assistant Principal. I am excited to be back at L.T. Westlake Fine Arts Elementary! I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education in 2004. I began my teaching career at Hays School, then moved to L.T. Westlake for a couple of years. The next 9 years were spent teaching at D.A. Ferguson Middle School and now I am back and thrilled that L.T. Westlake has become a fine arts focus school.

I have lived in Taber since 2000 with my husband and three children (although my oldest just moved out to start at the University of Lethbridge) and love being involved in the community. I love travelling, camping, road trips with my family, playing guitar and piano, learning how to do pottery and going to Paint Nights.

My teaching philosophy is that every child is capable of success and I do my best to ensure we find the strategies and techniques that work best for each student. Integrating fine arts into all subjects is one great way to do this! I like to keep things fun while doing lots of learning.

Feel free to email me at any time if you have questions or stop in and say hello!
