Mandy Simmons

Hi there! 

My name is Mandy Simmons.  I am teaching Grade 5 and a little bit of combined Grade 4 and 5.  I am also the Learning Support Teacher.  I am excited to be back at L.T. Westlake Fine Art Elementary! I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education in 2004.  I began my teacher career at Hays Schools, them moved to L.T. Westlake for a couple of years.  The next 9 years were spent teaching at D.A. Ferguson Middle School and now I am back and thrilled that L.T. Westlake has become a fine arts focus school.

I have lived in Taber since 2000 with my husband and three children (although my oldest are now in University and don't live at home full time).  I love being involved in the community.  I love travelling, camping, road trips with my family, playing guitar and piano, and occasionally going to Paint Nights.

My teaching philosophy is that every child is capable of success and I do my best to ensure we find strategies and techniques that work best for each student.  Integrating fine arts into all subjects is one great way to do this!  I like to keep things fun while doing lots of learning.
